Pittsburgh Improv Jam is a weekly comedy show featuring the city’s brightest stars and newest additions hosted by City Paper “Best Local Comedy Troupe” 2017 nominees Well Known Strangers.
What is an Improv Jam?
Experienced improvisers, eager beginners, and brave first-timers are placed on teams together to create improvised comedic scenes based on audience suggestions. You never know who's going to come play at Pittsburgh Improv Jam; previous guest performers include TLC's Paige Davis and the Second City Tour Company. Every Pittsburgh Improv Jam includes a featured performance by Well Known Strangers or other local and touring comedy acts.
Don’t want to perform? Don’t sweat it!
Audience tickets are only $3 cash the door or free with a downtown ticket stub from earlier that evening. The Backstage Bar serves drinks for improvisers and audience all night (Happy Hour til 11pm) and the show starts at 10pm.
Want to play? Welcome!
Sign-ups begin at 9:30 in Backstage Bar, and the Jam is free for performers.
What is Coconut Night?
Think Rocky Horror Picture Show meets Monty Python & The Holy Grail.

We are proud to have participated in the Pittsburgh chapter of the 48 Hour Film Project for the past 5 years running. Each year, over the period of just one weekend, we’ve written, filmed, and edited a short 4 to 7 minute long film. All teams participating each year get the same prop, character (and character trait), and line of dialogue to put in their short. All teams then pull a specific genre that their film must fall into. We’ve done a dark comedy (2013), horror (2014), romance (2015), kung-fu (2016), and most recently a slapstick war film (2017).
